The Brussels Platform “A New Start for Ukraine” was presented in Kyiv

The platform for supporting Ukrainian veterans was created by Ukrainian organizations in Europe at the special summit “Partnership, Innovation and Health of Veterans” at the European Parliament in Brussels.

The organizers of the summit and the platform told about this at a press conference in Ukrinform.

As the head of the European Association of Women of Ukraine, director of the Public Hub at the European Parliament in Brussels, Violetta Dvornikova, noted, the organizers aimed to combine the efforts of the Ukrainian veteran community with the capabilities of international institutions

“The goal of the summit was the presentation of innovative opportunities and modern digital tools for better interaction of Ukrainian, European and worldwide foundations and institutes engaged in the rehabilitation, treatment and socialization of Ukrainian veterans. The creation of a veteran platform became the main initiative of the summit,” she said.

According to the head of the organization “Ruthenia” (Belgium), the head of the platform “New Start for Ukraine” (Brussels) Lada Ortynska, the task of the platform is to create conditions for the development of veterans and their families

“There are many directions on the platform, for example, rehabilitation – this is medicine, psychology, prosthetics. Another important direction is business for veterans and their families in Europe. For this, we have psychologists and mentors who are ready to help. We will try to create the most comfortable conditions for the development of veterans and their families. We have created an application where everyone can register and get the help they need. We want to reach out to every veteran, his family, to the guys who are currently fighting, so that they know that they have our support, and we want to make their lives as easy as possible. We want to attract help from Europe as much as possible,” Ortynska stressed

More than 50 participants from Ukraine and Europe were invited to the summit in Brussels, among them were leaders of veteran organizations from Ukraine, Belgium and France, representatives of NATO, members of the European Parliament, representatives of the European Commission, the Ukrainian government, parliament, delegates of the Ukrainian Association of District and Regional Councils and Foundations, that provide assistance to veterans.
