Ruthenia at the Summit of the European Association of Ukrainian Women
Ukrainian women are always and everywhere the first in everything. This is how they got used to it in Ukraine, and this is what they are forcing the European public to get used to. The first Summit of the European Association of Ukrainian Women was held these days in Brussels, in the Committee of the Regions of the European Parliament. Of course, the Ruthenia team, which mostly consists of the better half of humanity, could not pass by such an event. Our girls took an active part in all panel discussions, familiarized the audience with our developments, projects and plans, and also shared practical methods of activities of the Ukrainian community of the city of Mechelen and the Ukrainian Civil Society Hub, in which Ruthenia takes an active part. Also, our girls gained new interesting contacts for further activities. The most pleasant thing was meeting old friends, in particular the Representative of Ukraine to the EU, Mr. Vsevolod Chentsov, who is a frequent guest at our events.
As for the Summit itself, it worked in the form of several platforms. At the first public women’s organizations from various European countries presented their humanitarian projects of various directions – from the purely protection of women’s rights to complex humanitarian aid projects and lobbying for the interests of Ukraine on the international arena. Gudrun Niedorf, a representative of the EU Committee of Regions, managed this section. And the actual informal communication took place already in a familiar environment, in the Ukrainian Civil Society Hub. Many useful initiatives have been worked out through joint efforts, which can be implemented both in Ukraine and here in Europe in the near future.
